Frequently Asked Questions About Bulls Bay Boats
Are Bulls Bay boats good for the Pamlico Sound?
They’re built for exactly this kind of water. The 2000 and 2200 bay boats get into the shallow tidal flats and creeks — we’re talking 12” draft, so you can access water that most boats can’t reach — and they still have enough hull to handle the Sound on a normal fishing day. If you’re fishing the Pungo River, the back side of the Pamlico, or running toward Cedar Island flats, the 2200 is the one we’d put you in.
What’s the difference between the bay boats and center consoles?
The bay boats (2000, 2200, 2200 XS) are shallow-draft aluminum-hull platforms — designed for inshore flats and tidal water. The center consoles (200CC, 230 CC, 255CC) are fiberglass with a deeper V-hull, built for more open water and more power. If you’re mostly inshore, bay boat. If you want to run to inlets or go nearshore, you want the center console. The 230 CC with 300HP and a 95-gallon tank is the one for guys who want to run hard.
What price range should I expect?
The 2000 starts at $56,999 rigged, the 255CC is $104,999 and up. Most of our Bulls Bay buyers land somewhere between $60k and $80k depending on model and engine choice. We finance all of them — Zero money down, 5.99% APR, 240 months, OAC. Call us at (252) 946-0920 and we’ll tell you exactly what’s in stock and what it pencils out to monthly.
How shallow can the Bulls Bay 2000 really run?
About 12 inches on plane. That’s getting into serious skinny-water territory. For reference, a lot of the grass flats on the backside of the Pamlico around Wysocking Bay and the tidal creeks off the Pungo run 12–18 inches at low tide. The 2000 can access almost all of that. The 2200 runs just a touch deeper but handles bigger water better.
What Bulls Bay is best for nearshore fishing off the NC coast?
The 230 CC is the one for nearshore work — 95-gallon tank, up to 300HP, 20° deadrise to handle chop. For guys running to the nearshore structure off Cape Lookout or fishing the inlets, the 230 CC has the range and the hull for it. The 200CC is a solid step-in at a lower price point if you’re mostly Sound and occasional inlet fishing.
Are Bulls Bay boats made in NC?
South Carolina, actually. But they’re built specifically for southeastern coastal fishing conditions — the same redfish, trout, and flounder water our customers fish. The design team knows this coast.
Bulls Bay vs Sea Hunt — which is better?
Sea Hunt has stronger brand recognition and more dealers nationwide. Bulls Bay is more fishing-focused at comparable price points — better storage layouts, fishing-specific features baked in. Honestly, come see both in person if you can. We carry Bulls Bay because we think they deliver more value for inshore fishermen in eastern NC. But we’d rather you make the right choice than just take our word for it.
